Senior Inter English Model Question Paper 2 - Section A

Following is the Senior Intermediate model paper for English (Part - I and Paper - II). The duration of the exam is 3 hours and maximum marks are 100. Here we are giving Section -A of the Model Paper. This section is for 40 marks. Remaining sections are available in the next posts.

SECTION - A

I. Annotate ANY TWO of the following in 10-15 lines each. 2 × 4 = 8
a) The ultimate in co-operation
b) Our journey-man fiction is evidently a means of getting away from real life, a mild anodyne, or a stimulus to day-dreaming.
c) Just give 'em a look ........... a tone of voice ........... now an' again to suggest you might be tough with 'em if you wanted to be ................... an' it ought to work.
d) In fact, what is gifted or inherited follows the old rule of come easy, go easy.

II. Annotate ANY TWO of the following in 10-15 lines each. 2 × 4 = 8
a) I've seen the wonders of the world 
not yet one common man
b) We give no compensation, 
The earth is ours today,
And if we lose on arable,
The bungalows will pay.
c) Courage must come from the soul within
The man must furnish the will to win,
So figure it out for yourself, my lad.
d) A bull has no sense.
What about the man?

III. Answer ANY TWO of the following questions in 10-15 lines each. 2 × 4 = 8
a) 'God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers'. (Jewish Proverb)
Explain the role of a mother in a family and how it is important to give her respect and consider her likes and dislikes.
b) Did Einstein succeed in leaving school? How?
c) 'Eat right, exercise regularly, die anyway.' Why do you think Leacock feels that one should not be a health maniac?
d) Remember, those who win are those who believe they can. Is this true? How can one achieve one's goals according to Azim Premji?

IV. Answer ANY TWO of the following questions in 10-15 lines each. 2 × 4 = 8
a) The tree found its joy in the joy of the boy. Explain with reference to the poem 'The Giving Tree'.
b) We all belong to one race in the world, namely, the human race. 
How does the poet Maya Angelou justify this statement in the poem 'Human Family?'
c) Explain how the poet compares and contrasts the bull with modern man in the poem 'Bull in the City'.
d) 'All men are created equal' is a well-known statement made by Thomas Jefferson. Does the poem ''Equipment'' corroborate this?

V. Answer ANY ONE of the following questions in about 25 lines. 1 × 8 = 8
a) Write a character sketch of Napoleon.
b) What are the turning points in the book 'Animal Farm'? Discuss the main events in the plot.
c) How is Animal Farm a satire of Stalinism or generally of totalitarianism?
