KVPY Fellowship Scheme 2011-12 for Sciences, Engineering and Medicine Streams

Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science in India is encouraging young students to take up science research as a career. The Govt. of India is offering various scholarships / fellowships for those candidates who wants to make a career in Natural, Biological and Engineering Sciences. Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Fellowship (KVPY) Scheme is one of the best fellowship schemes for these students. Notification for KVPY 2011-12 has been released. These are highly reputed fellowships to be awarded every year for Basic Science, Engineering and Medical students. There are different categories under this scheme. Fellowship under KVPY scheme will be from Rs. 4000 to Rs. 7000 and it will based on the course / stream selected by the candidate. There will also be a annual grant of Rs. 16000 to Rs. 28000 for every selected candidate. Following are the details of categories of fellowships and application procedure for all the streams:

Basic Sciences: Streams under this category are:

1) SA and SP (After X Class);
2) SB and SP: During B.Sc./ B.S. and 1st to 3rd years of Integrated M.Sc.
3) SB and SP: During M.Sc./ M.S and 4th and 5th years of Integrated M.Sc.

SP (Basic Science / Engineering students): Streams under this category are:

1) 1st, 2nd and 3rd year
2) During Subsequent Years

SP (Medicine): Following are streams under this category:

1) 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year
2) During Subsequent Years

Eligibility for various streams of fellowships:

Basic Sciences:

1. Stream SA: Candidates should have enrolled in the Class XI in Science Subjects during the academic year 2011-2012. They should have secured a minimum of 80 percent marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the X Standard Board Examinations. 70 percent marks are enough for SC/ST candidates.

2. Stream SX: Applicants should have enrolled in Class 12 (10+2) during the academic year 2011 – 2012. They will be joining in UG / Degree program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc/ B.S./ Integrated M.Sc) for the session 2012 – 2013 and should secure minimum 80 percent (70 percent for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.

3. Stream SB: Students enrolled in 1st year B. Sc./ B.S./ Integrated M.Sc. Programs during the academic year 2011–2012. They must have secured at least 60 percent (50 percent marks are enough for SC/ST students) marks in aggregate in Science subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination.

4. SP (Basic Sciences): Students should have enrolled in Class XI / XII, I OR II year of B.Sc../ B.S./ Integrated M.Sc.) in Basic Sciences and I / II year B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch. during the academic year 2011–2012. They should have secured at least 60 percent marks in aggregate in the X and XII Standard Board Examinations. 50 percent marks are enough for SC/ ST students. Additionally those students enrolled in the II year B.Sc./ B.S./ Integrated M.Sc/ B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch. program should have secured at least 60 percent (50 percent for SC/ ST candidates) marks in the I year examination. Candidates have to attach a hard copy of the science based research project done by the candidate along with the application.

5. Stream SP (Medicine): Students joining First / Second Professional year of MBBS / B.V.Sc/ BDS/ B.Pharma program during the academic year 2011-2012 are eligible. They must have passed XII Standard Board Examination with 80 percent (70 percent for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate in Science subjects or passed First Professional MBBS/ B.V.Sc/ BDS/ B.Pharma exam with not less than 60 percent (50 percent for SC/ST) marks. ITI Hyderabad Admissions Counseling 2011-12

The Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) has announced that the counseling for admission into various regular courses at ITI will be conducted on 13th and 14th July 2011. Courses are available for those passed in 8th class, 10th class and higher courses. Following are details of courses, eligibility and admissions procedure:

1. Radio, TV, Motor Mechanic, Fitter, Turner Mechinist, Electronic Mechanic, Refrigeration, air conditioning and automobile sector: Eligibility is pass in 10th class / SSC.

2. Plumbing, Tailoring and other trades: Eligibility is 8th class.

Counseling details: Admission to above courses will be through marks in the qualifying examination only. For candidates who scored marks between 424 and 243, the admission counseling will be held on Thursday (13th July 2011). For those candidates who have secured marks between 242 and 186, the counseling will be on Friday (14th July 2011).

Schulich GMR School of Business in Hyderabad

The GMR group has entered into Management Education with the launch of Schulich School of Business (SSB) near Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, Hyderabad.
