GITAM University, Visakhapatnam and International School of Engineering (ISE) have announced notification for admission into their joint programme, M.Tech. Applied Computer Science and Technology (ACST) with Specialisation in Business Analytics and Optimisation. The programmes is specially designed for working professionals in the IT field. The program will be conducted on weekends only at GITAM's Hyderabad campus. Following are details of the program for the academic year 2011-12, course structure, eligibility and application procedure:
Eligibility and selection procedure: Applicants should be employees (programmers, testers, analysts or equivalent) with 2 years of relevant experience in any IT organization engaged in Computer Science or Statistical Modeling. Candidates should have any one of the following degrees: B.E./B.Tech. (Any branch), M.E. / M.Tech. (Any branch) / M.Sc. (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics) or MCA. Exceptionally meritorious candidates may also get a waiver on the work experience requirement. Selection will be done by admissions panel comprising members from industry and academia.
Course Structure: The program is designed considering the requirements of IT / Software companies in the mentioned specialisation. The important components of the M.Tech. program are Engineering foundation courses, Applied specialization courses, Consulting and domain courses, Industry certifications (Cambridge Business English certificate and SAS certification are part of the program) and Dual projects (one technical and another social project). Duration is 80 weeks on saturdays only and interaction on other days will be in online mode.

Osmania University Ph.D. Eligibility Test 2011 for Research Admissions
Osmania University is conducting Ph.D. Eligibility Test for admission to Ph.D. Programmes in the disciplines of Sciences, Arts, Social Sciences, Management and Humanities. The OU shall release admission notification for Ph.D. Programs in the faculties such as Commerce, Law, Education, Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy and Oriental Languages for the year 2010-11 and 2011-12. Along with those qualified in Ph.D. Eligibility Test conducted by Osmania University, candidates with valid UGC/ CSIR/ JRF/ NET / M.Phil. qualifications also can apply. They should have 55 percent marks in the relevant Post Graduate Degree and need UGC-CSIR / NET/ GATE or SLET and M.Phil through regular mode only. Notification is likely to be released during August 2011.
Osmania University is conducting the eligibility test following UGC guidelines for Ph.D. Admissions. Candidates have to apply in the prescribed application format available on the OU website at www.osmania.ac.in . You can download guidelines of admission from the website. Candidates can also get application forms and prospectus from 'Director, Department of Publications and Press, OU' on payment of Rs. 60 as application fee. Interested candidates can also obtain application forms by post through sending a DD for Rs. 60 drawn in favour of 'The Director, Department of Publications and Press, Osmania University, Hyderabad - 500007'.
Completed application forms along with all the required enclosures and a DD for Rs. 150 towards registration fee should be sent to concerned Dean on or before the last date mentioned in the notification to be released soon by the University. Ph.D. Eligibility Test Pattern: The Ph.D. eligibility test 2010-11 of the Osmania University will examine candidate's research aptitude and knowledge in the concerned subject. The medium of Ph.D. Eligibility Test is English except for language subjects. The question paper shall consist of only one paper with maximum marks of 100. The duration of the test is 3 hours. The question paper consists of :
1) Section A: 10 short type questions for 60 marks (10 x 6 marks)
2) Section B: 4 essay type questions for 40 marks (4 x 10 marks).
Syllabus and Old / Previous Question Papers for Ph.D. eligibility test: Candidates can download the syllabus along with model papers in various subjects for Ph.D. Eligibility Test from the University website, www.osmania.ac.in. The qualifying marks at the Ph.D. eligibility test will be 40 percent for General and Backward Class candidates and 30 percent for SC / ST candidates.
