Engineering Fee in Top Colleges to be hiked

The Supreme Court on Wednesday has allowed thirteen engineering colleges in the state to increase the fee for the 2012-13 academic year. The quantum of fee will be decided by the Admission and Fee Regulation Committee (AFRC) based on the fee hike sought by the colleges and documents submitted in support of their arguments. The colleges proposed to hike the fee include CBIT, SRKR, MGIT, GMR, G Pulla Reddy College, CVR College of Engineering, Gokaraju Rangaraju, Vasavi, Kamala Institute of Technology, MVSR, VR Siddhardha, KSRM College and PVP Siddhartha College.

These colleges will submit proposals to the government who will in turn clear it. The fee hike in these colleges will be from 7 percent to 42 percent, as per their proposals. The increase in fee will be from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 15000 depending on the present fee structure and proposal of the college. The APSCHE has clarified that the fee hhike will be for the year 2012-13 only. Following are the proposals of various top rung colleges to hike the fee for Engineering courses:

1) MGIT (Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology): 25 percent
2) GMR Institute of Technology: 27 percent
3) G Pullareddy Engineering College: 15 percent
4) CBIT (Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology): 42 percent
5) CVR College of Engineering: 19 percent
6) Gokaraju Rangaraju College of Engineering: 7 percent
7) SRKR College of Engineering: 21 percent
8) Vasavi College of Engineering: 22 percent
9) Kamala Institute of Technology: 14 percent
10) MVSR Engineering College: 14 percent
11) VR Siddhartha College of Engineering: 13 percent
12) KSRM Engineering College: 13 percent
13) PVP Siddhardha College of Engineering: 10 percent.

Managements of other engineering colleges also sought similar permission from the court to hike the fee and they are arguing that the AFRC has not looked into thier proposals and did not present them to the court. The SC has clarified that such college have to submit an undertaking to the Supreme Court within one week as later submit fresh proposals to AFRC.

JNAFAU Fine Arts and Design Entrance Test 2012-13

Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU), Masab Tank, Hyderabad is inviting application for Fine Arts and Design Entrance Examination (FDEE) 2012. The test is aimed at providing admission to Bachelor courses in Fine Arts and Design in various specializations. Following are details of courses and application procedure:

1) Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Applied Art and Animation). Qualification: Intermediate or its equivalent.
2) Bachelor of Design (Interior Design). Qualification: Intermediate or Diploma in Architecture / Civil.

Filled in forms along with a DD for Rs. 1000 (Rs. 500 for SC and ST candidates) drawn in favour of Registrar, JNAFAU, payable at Hyderabad should be sent to Director of Admissions, Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Hyderabad.

Polytechnic Admissions 2012 - Lateral Entry for Inter Vocational Candidates

Department of Technical Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh (DTEAP) has released lateral entry admission notification for Intermediate Vocational Courses (IVC) pass out candidates for admission to 2nd Year Diploma in Engineering and Non - Engineering Courses of 3 year duration offered at Government, Aided and Private Polytechnic Colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

Candidates should have qualified / passed in Intermediate (Vocational) and also passed in relevant bridge course with Maths, Physics and Chemistry subjects conducted by Board of Intermediate Education, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. There are number of polytechnic colleges in AP which offer different streams in diploma courses.

Interested candidates can apply in the prescribed format available on the website dteap.nic.in . Last date for the receipt of completed applications is 23rd May 2012. Other details such as eligibility, application form, fee to be paid and counseling schedule will be available on dteap.nic.in .
