AP High Court Stayed NEET 2013 for Andhra Students
Here is a great relief for the students of Andhra Pradesh who have not geared up for the ensuing NEET 2013 examination. The AP High Court has stayed the implementation of NEET examination to Andhra Pradesh for the academic year 2013-14. The State Government has already requested the Central Government to exempt AP from NEET 2013 on the grounds of students coping with the new syllabus.
A division bench of the high court comprising Justice V Eswaraiah and Justice N Ravi Shankar has stayed the applicability of NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) for AP. The Principal Secretary, Medical and Health department, Govt. of AP has filed the writ petition.
The petitioner has informed the court that the Article 371 (D) of the Indian Constitution has granted special status to AP and also quoted the Presidential Order which provided local and non local reservations in for admissions into professional courses. The petitioner has argued that the MCI cannot override the Article 371(D) of the constitution.
Though the Government has already introduced new syllabus at the Intermediate level, the NEET 2013 would be a disadvantage for the students who studied first year course with the state syllabus.
