The Government of Telangana is proposed to start three new medical
colleges in the state. The Telangana state government has sent
proposals to the Medical Council of India regarding seeking approvals
for the new colleges.
The new colleges, if approved will come up in Mahaboobnagar and Medak
districts. According to the sources, Mahabubnagar will get one and
Medak district will get two medical colleges.
It is proposed to upgrade the Mahabubnagar district hospital to a 1000
bed hospital cum college. The MCI will scrutinize the application and
issue approvals after due verification.
The private managements have also sent proposals for two new medical
colleges in Medak district. The colleges may start from the academic
year 2017-18 after approvals and availability of infrastructure.
