ECET is conducted for Diploma Holders for Lateral Entry Admissions into BE / B.Tech. courses in Private Engineering Colleges in Andhra Pradesh and for First Year BE / B.Tech Admissions in University Colleges for specified quota reserved for Diploma Holders.

All the professional colleges in the state, whether it is Government or unaided private sector colleges have to reserve certain number of seats for ECET qualified candidates. Candidates have to attend for the counseling separately conducted for them by APSCHE or the ECET convener. ECET will give polytechnic diploma holders an opportunity to join in second year Engineering courses without losing the academic year.
