LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarships 2011-12 for Engineering, Medicine, Degree and ITI Courses

LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation has issued notification for LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2011. The objective of the scholarship if to offer generous financial assistance for poor and meritorious students pursuing professional courses such as Engineering, Medicine, ITI and other vocational courses. The LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation (GJF) is functioning with human and capital resources received from LIC of India. The scholarship will be awarded for studies in India in a government or private recognized college or university. The scholarship scheme also cover technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes / Industrial Training Centers (ITI / ITC) affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) of classes at Graduation level. The number of Scholarships for each LIC division are 20 (10 for Boys and 10 for Girls). Following are details of eligibility and application procedure:

Eligibility: Students who have passed Intermediate / Class XII examination or its equivalent in the Academic Year 2010-11 with at least 60 percent marks and are interested in pursuing higher education in the field of Medicine, Engineering, Graduation in any discipline, Diploma Course in any field or other equivalent courses are eligible to apply. Candidates willing to pursue vocational courses through Government recognized Colleges / Institutes or courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) can also apply. They should have secured at least 60 percent marks in class X / SSC examinations. All the candidates should have annual parental income of less than Rs. 60000.

Duration of the scholarship: The LIC Scholarships will be provided for the entire course duration. Selected candidates will be paid Rs. 10000 per annum. They will be paid Rs. 1000/ monthly for ten months by Cheques to the beneficiary. Scholarship shall be awarded to those students who have secured not less than 60 percent marks in the previous final examination. Students having the lowest annual family income shall be given preference. The scholarship shall be discontinued if an awarded / student fails to secure 50 percent marks in B.A./ B.COM. and 55 percent marks in other streams or equivalent grade.

Income certificate should be provided on self-certification format by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper for self-employed parents and from employer for employed parents. The certificate should be supported by documents such as land held by the parents taken from revenue department in the name of parents. The scholarship may be renewed during the next academic year of the course on the production of certificates that the student has secured required marks in the examination.
