MBBS Seats in Andhra Pradesh Increased from 2012-13

Here is a good news for MBBS aspirants in Andhra Pradesh. Medical Council of India (MCI) has granted 750 MBBS seats in medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh. The MCI has increased 50 seats each in Government medical colleges located at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Kurnool. Apart from these, 400 MBBS seats are available in the newly established medical colleges in the state.

The officials of Medical Education Department have informed that the MCI may ontinue the process of permissions to new colleges and increase of seats in existing colleges till 15th July 2012. The admission in Government Medical College at Nizamabad have been deferred due to lack of facilities as per the MCI guidelines. Following are the latest details of medical colleges and MBBS seats in Andhra Pradesh.

1. Government Colleges: There are 1900 MBBS seats in Govt. Medical Colleges in the state as on dates. In addition to these 50 seats each in Andhra Medical College Visakhapatnam, Siddhardha Medical College Vijayawada and Government Medical College Kurnool.

2. Private Medical Colleges: 2850 MBBS seats are available in private medical colleges in the state. The MCI has granted permission to start two new medical colleges one each at Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. 400 more seats are available in these two colleges. Apart from these 50 seats for each college is increased in Aluri Sitaramaraju Medical College Eluru, Katuri Medical College Guntur, Maharaja Medical College Vizianagaram and Mediciti Hyderabad.

With these, total number of MBBS seats in Government and Private medical colleges has reached to 5500. This number is 750 seats more than the previous year. EAMCET 2012 qualified candidates with decent ranks will have better chances of securing a MBBS seat this year. You can check the previous year MBBS and BDS cut offs on this blog.
