NRI Quota in Minority Medical Colleges in AP from 2013

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has taken a decision to reserve 15 percent of seats in Minority Medical and Dental college to NRI candidates. The Government has earlier taken the same decision with respect to main stream Medical and Dental Colleges for admission into MBBS and BDS courses for the academic year 2013-14.

The NRI quota will be allotted within the seats available under Management quota. At present 40 percent seats are reserved for management quota. With the latest decision, the management quota will be reduced to 25 percent and NRI quota will be 15 percent.

In another latest development, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh has ordered the Government not to take any final decision regarding management quota seats till further orders. The court has intervened after the recent controversies in filling management quota seats in various private medical colleges.

It is being reported that several private medical colleges in the state are not issuing applications for the management quota seats. Several parents have approached the court and the court has responded with notices to the Government.
