AP for Specialised Universities for Languages, Arts and Distance Education

The Government of Andhra Pradesh is contemplating to start language universities with the assistance of Central Government. The state government is proposed to establish these universities in the lines of such institutions in Hyderabad / Telangana.

Hyderabad has language universities such Telugu University, English and Foreign Language University, Urdu University, BR Ambedkar Open University, Fine Arts University and Handicrafts University etc.

As per the AP Reorganisation Act, these institutions have to be distributed to both the states in 58 : 42 ratio. But the government is of the opinion that it will be better to get separate full fledged universities with central assistance.

The special team consisting of HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and secretary and other officials of education department may visit Delhi to meet Union HRD minister to put the proposals before the ministry.
