Indian - Andhra Students in University of North Virginia Visa Fraud 2011

Update on 4th August 2011: The TANA (Telugu Association of North America) has come forward to help the students of University of Northern Virginia (UNVA). TANA is offering legal help to the students victimised in the alleged UNVA Visa irregularities. The US authorities have unearthed another fraud university the United States. The Unites States Immigration Officials have raided the offices of University of Northern Virginia (UNVA) on the charges of VISA fraud and seized important documents and hard drives. It is estimated that out of the total enrollment of 2400 students in the University of North Virgina, about 90 percent of them are from India. The large number of students are likely to be from Andhra Pradesh. The UNVA is located at Annandale (Virginia), the suburbs of the capital city of the USA, Washington. Interesting fact about UNVA is that it lost its accreditation in 2003 itself. But the University keep on attracting students from Andhra Pradesh and other parts of India. The name of University on its official website http://www.unva.edu/ was mentioned as University of Northern Virginia. Indian Embassy official have requested the US authorities not to victimise the Indian students.

The US authorities including various agencies like Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and FBI have raided the offices at the University of Northern Virginia's Annandale campus. The United States authorities had conducted similar raids and shut down the Tri-Valley University in California during January 2011, on the charges of massive VISA and immigration fraud. Most of the victims in the Tri Valley episode also from Andhra Pradesh. About 1500 Indian students, including large numbers from AP have suffered humiliation from the US investigation officials.

Information about actual number of victims from Andhra Pradesh is yet to be confirmed. Osmania University MBA, M.Sc. MSW Admissions Info 2011

Osmania University has announced results of entrance examinations conducted for admission into Five Year Integrated Courses, MBA, MA Economics and M.Sc. Chemistry. Osmania University Ph.D. Eligibility Test 2011 for Research Admissions

Osmania University is conducting Ph.D. Eligibility Test for admission to Ph.D. Programmes in the disciplines of Sciences, Arts, Social Sciences, Management and Humanities. The OU shall release admission notification for Ph.D. Programs in the faculties such as Commerce, Law, Education, Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy and Oriental Languages for the year 2010-11 and 2011-12. Along with those qualified in Ph.D. Eligibility Test conducted by Osmania University, candidates with valid UGC/ CSIR/ JRF/ NET / M.Phil. qualifications also can apply. They should have 55 percent marks in the relevant Post Graduate Degree and need UGC-CSIR / NET/ GATE or SLET and M.Phil through regular mode only. Notification is likely to be released during August 2011.

Osmania University is conducting the eligibility test following UGC guidelines for Ph.D. Admissions. Ph.D. Eligibility Test Pattern: The Ph.D. eligibility test 2010-11 of the Osmania University will examine candidate's research aptitude and knowledge in the concerned subject. The medium of Ph.D. Eligibility Test is English except for language subjects. The question paper shall consist of only one paper with maximum marks of 100. The duration of the test is 3 hours. The question paper consists of :
1) Section A: 10 short type questions for 60 marks (10 x 6 marks)
2) Section B: 4 essay type questions for 40 marks (4 x 10 marks).

Syllabus and Old / Previous Question Papers for Ph.D. eligibility test: Candidates can download the syllabus along with model papers in various subjects for Ph.D. Eligibility Test from the University website, www.osmania.ac.in. EAMCET Medical Second Phase Counseling 2011 for MBBS and BDS - Seats Allotment

Update on 17th August 2011: EAMCET 2011 Medical Second Phase Counseling will be started from 18th August 2011. The Counseling will be finished by 22nd August 2011. There are 13 seats available for MBBS and about 400 seats are available in BDS Courses for the academic year 2011-12. Vacant seats and seats available for various categories in different colleges will be uploaded to NTR University website ntruhs.ap.nic.in . Counseling will be held at four online counseling centers at JNTU Hyderabad, AU Visakhapatnam, SVU TIrupati and NTRUHS Vijayawada. Seat Allotments will be done as per the Eamcet 2011 ranks.

Update on 4th August 2011: Here is a good news for MBBS and BDS aspirants. There are more seats available in the above courses as the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has approved three more medical colleges in the state. These are Apollo Medical College - Hyderabad, Anil Neerukonda Educational Society - Visakhapatnam and Chandramma Educational Society - Hyderabad. With this, another 400 medical (MBBS) seats are available for the EAMCET 2011 qualified candidates. These seats may be included in second phase counseling. Following are number of seats in each of these colleges:

1) Apollo Medical College - Hyderabad: 100 seats in MBBS
2) Anil Neerukonda Educational Society - Visakhapatnam: 150 seats in MBBS
3) Chandramma Educational Society - Hyderabad: 150 seats in MBBS.

EAMCET Medical (MBBS and BDS) first phase counseling has been concluded on 26th July 2011. The authorities will soon announce the dates for second phase MBBS and BDS counseling if any planned by the NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh). The counseling has been conducted from four counseling / helpline centers across the state. About 3194 MBBS seats and 696 BDS seats have been filled in various Govt. and Private Medical and Dental Colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh through Medical Counseling 2011-12. All the reserved category seats under Osmania University Region were filled before the last day of the counseling. Hence the last day counseling will be held for BC (E), SC and ST category seats falls under SVU and Andhra University regions.

Counseling for Super Specialty Medical Courses: The NTR University of Health Science will also conduct Counseling for admission into Super Specialty Courses (MD / MCh) in the Govt. and Private / Unaided medical and dental colleges in Andhra Pradesh. The result of Entrance Test for Super Specialty courses were announced on 25th July 2011. About 356 candidates were attended to the entrance exam held on 17th July 2011 at Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad. Results and Counseling schedule can be obtained from ntruhs.ap.nic.in .

Counseling for Super Specialty courses will be conducted on 29th July 2011 at 10 AM. All the qualified candidates can appear for the counseling at NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada. LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarships 2011-12 for Engineering, Medicine, Degree and ITI Courses

LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation has issued notification for LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2011. The objective of the scholarship if to offer generous financial assistance for poor and meritorious students pursuing professional courses such as Engineering, Medicine, ITI and other vocational courses. The LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation (GJF) is functioning with human and capital resources received from LIC of India. The scholarship will be awarded for studies in India in a government or private recognized college or university. The scholarship scheme also cover technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes / Industrial Training Centers (ITI / ITC) affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) of classes at Graduation level. The number of Scholarships for each LIC division are 20 (10 for Boys and 10 for Girls). Following are details of eligibility and application procedure:

Eligibility: Students who have passed Intermediate / Class XII examination or its equivalent in the Academic Year 2010-11 with at least 60 percent marks and are interested in pursuing higher education in the field of Medicine, Engineering, Graduation in any discipline, Diploma Course in any field or other equivalent courses are eligible to apply. Candidates willing to pursue vocational courses through Government recognized Colleges / Institutes or courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) can also apply. They should have secured at least 60 percent marks in class X / SSC examinations. All the candidates should have annual parental income of less than Rs. 60000.

Duration of the scholarship: The LIC Scholarships will be provided for the entire course duration. Selected candidates will be paid Rs. 10000 per annum. They will be paid Rs. 1000/ monthly for ten months by Cheques to the beneficiary. Scholarship shall be awarded to those students who have secured not less than 60 percent marks in the previous final examination. Students having the lowest annual family income shall be given preference. The scholarship shall be discontinued if an awarded / student fails to secure 50 percent marks in B.A./ B.COM. and 55 percent marks in other streams or equivalent grade.

Income certificate should be provided on self-certification format by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper for self-employed parents and from employer for employed parents. The certificate should be supported by documents such as land held by the parents taken from revenue department in the name of parents. The scholarship may be renewed during the next academic year of the course on the production of certificates that the student has secured required marks in the examination.

NEET-UG Common Entrance for MBBS Admissions 2012-2013 - Number of Seats, Colleges, Syllabus, Exam Structure and Question Paper Pattern

Good news for aspirants of Medical education in India. Here is an important and much needed initiative by Medical Council of India (MCI). Moved with the directive of the Supreme Court, the MCI has decided to conduct the All India Level Common Entrance Examinations for admission to Medical Under Graduate (NEET-UG), Post Graduate (NEET-PG) and Super Specialty (NEET-SP) courses from the academic year 2012-2013. The NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The MCI has already released NEET Notification 2012-13 along with common core syllabus for NEET-UG Entrance Test and invited response from the public before it goes for finalizing the syllabus for Biology, Physics and Chemistry subjects. The MCI is likely to work out similar modalities for NEET - PG and NEET - SS Entrance Examinations also. Following are the details of Number of Seats and Medical Colleges under NEET-UG, exam structure, NEET scheme of examination, syllabus for the entrance test, available seats in various courses, application procedure and also provided info on NEET-PG and NEET-SS exams to be conducted for Medical PG and Super Specialty Admissions respectively:

Common Core Syllabus: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has formulated common core syllabus for NEET- UG exam and the same has been displayed on the MCI website at http://www.mciindia.org/tools/announcement/CoreSyllabus_NEET-UG.pdf for feedback from the students, their parents and general public. The MCI will finalize the core syllabus for physics, chemistry and biology subjects after taking all the valuable suggestions into consideration. The prescribed Core Syllabus put on the MCI website was prepared by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

NEET - UG Examination Schedule: The NEET- UG examination is scheduled to be held from January-February 2012. The pattern of the entrance examination for NEET -UG, distribution of questions across different subjects and model questions for the entrance exam will be made available on the MCI or other separate website during August 2011. The NEET-SS for admission to super-specialty courses (DM / MCh) is also scheduled to be held from June 2012.

The MCI will issue notification of NEET 2012-2013 soon after the finalization of syllabus and scheme of entrance examination. Presently there are many number of medical entrance exams at state, central and college levels. There are CETs conducted by States, separate test by private colleges and deemed universities. A common entrance test like NEET will bring down stress on the students. Private medical colleges also may consider the scores / ranks of NEET for admissions to their colleges.

Medical Colleges: There are about 314 medical colleges in the country. Out of these 144 colleges are being run by State and Central Governments and the remaining 170 colleges are under private managements. Out of these 170, there are about 50 deemed universities. Total available seats in Government colleges are estimated at 16398 and 19085 in private medical colleges. It is estimated that there are about 31,000 seats on offer for MBBS and also another 11,000 seats available in PG medical courses. The MCI also also made it clear that State Quotas and Reservations in Medical Colleges would remain intact as National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will draw up ranks / merit lists at national and state levels separately for General Category, SC, ST and OBC and PD candidates.

Exclusions from NEET - UG: The NEET entrance examination would cover most of the medical colleges in India. The exceptions listed out are AFMC- Armed Forces Medical College, AIIMS- All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER- Chandigarh) as these institutions were set up by separate laws and will be out of the purview of NEET- UG. The MCI has also clarified that the new entrance test will not interfere with the management quota of the private medical and dental colleges.

SP (Basic Sciences): Students should have enrolled in Class XI / XII, I OR II year of B.Sc../ B.S./ Integrated M.Sc.) in Basic Sciences and I / II year B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch. during the academic year 2011–2012. They should have secured at least 60 percent marks in aggregate in the X and XII Standard Board Examinations. 50 percent marks are enough for SC/ ST students. Additionally those students enrolled in the II year B.Sc./ B.S./ Integrated M.Sc/ B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch. program should have secured at least 60 percent (50 percent for SC/ ST candidates) marks in the I year examination. Candidates have to attach a hard copy of the science based research project done by the candidate along with the application.

5. Stream SP (Medicine): Students joining First / Second Professional year of MBBS / B.V.Sc/ BDS/ B.Pharma program during the academic year 2011-2012 are eligible. They must have passed XII Standard Board Examination with 80 percent (70 percent for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate in Science subjects or passed First Professional MBBS/ B.V.Sc/ BDS/ B.Pharma exam with not less than 60 percent (50 percent for SC/ST) marks. ePass - Renewal of Post Matric Scholarships 2011-12 | Tuition Fee Reimbursement Scheme in AP

Government of Andhra Pradesh is inviting online applications through ePass website for the renewal of Post Matric Scholarships for the year 2011-12. The scholarship scheme is more popular in Andhra Pradesh as Tution Fee Reimbursement Scheme. Under this scheme, Students pursuing various Post Matric Courses in Andhra Pradesh can apply for the scholarships for the year 2011-2012. All SC/ ST/ BC/ Minority/ EBC and any other students with parental income of less than Rs. 1 lakh are eligible for fee reimbursement. Candidates need to apply for the renewal of their scholarships for the academic year 2011-12 through ePass (Electronic Payment and Application System of Scholarships) website at http://epass.cgg.gov.in/. Osmania University Exams Schedules News and Updates 2011

Osmania University has extended the deadline for evaluation of Degree examination answer papers to 8th July 2011. The decision has been taken considering the ongoing bandh call given by the students of the University. In an another related announcement, Osmania University has decided to extend fee payment deadline from 4th July to 8th July 2011.

Osmania University is most likely to postpone various examinations to be conducted for Distance Education candidates and regular students of Post Graduation and B.Ed. Courses. As per the original Schedule, Distance Education exams should start from 6th July 2011. Annual Exams of B.Ed. Courses have to commence from 7th July 2011. Considering the present situation in the University, The OU may postpone these exams and announce schedules later.

The University has also announced that PGCET counseling 2011 for admission to various Post Graduate Courses will start from 18th July 2011. Rank cards will be issued to the qualified candidates very soon. You may also download cards from OU website www.osmania.ac.in. Counseling schedule will be issued very soon.

BRAOU and PGRRCDE Hall Tickets, Exams, Results Info 2011

BRAOU Exams, Hall Tickets and Results Updates: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), Hyderabad has announced final year Degree results of the examinations conducted during May 2011. The Under Graduate results of BRAOU are available on the university website www.braou.ac.in along with other sites like www.manabadi.com and www.schools9.com . Mark Sheets will be sent ot the qualified candidates through the post. The University also announced that the M.Ed. BRAOU- UG Direct Admissions 2011-12 to B.A, B.Com, B.Sc

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad has announced notification for Direct Admission to Under Graduate Programs such as B.A, B.Com, and B.Sc. Courses for the academic year 2011-12. BRAOU is the first open university in the country to offer distance / correspondence programs. All the three UG programs are offered in Telugu, English and Urdu Medium. Duration of the program is 3 years. There will be no entrance test under this scheme of programs. Ambedkar Open University has more than 200 study centers across the state of Andhra Pradesh. BCIL- BITP Biotech Industrial Training Program 2011-2012

There is a dearth of skilled Biotech professionals in the country. The Biotech industry has been complaining on the lack of industry specific skills in the students. To fill the gap between academics and industry, the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India is offering an innovative Biotech Industrial Training Programme (BITP) 2011-12. This is a good opportunity for Biotechnology and allied subjects students to settle in biotech career. Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL), managed by DBT is inviting applications from eligible candidates for Biotech Industrial Training Program (BITP) for the year 2011-2012. Those have undergone this training will be preferred in Biotech Companies at the time of recruitments. Practical industry oriented training will be imparted through BCIL - BITP program making it more helpful for Biotech students in getting jobs after the completion of course.
