10th English - Extract from Watsons Diary

Important questions from the chapter: Watsons Diary

Question: What important information did Barrymore give Sir Henry about Sir Charles’ death, in return for sparing his brother-in-law?

A: The information Barrymore gave Sir Henry was that Sir Charles had received a letter in the afternoon on the day of his death.

Mrs. Barrymore found it half-burnt while cleaning his study room. It was a letter from a woman requesting him to come and meet her at 10’o clock at the gate, on the night of the tragic death, and was signed in initials L.L.

Barrymore wanted to share this information with Sir Henry because he had been kind to him by promising him that they wouldn’t inform the police about Selden’s presence on the moor.
